There is a huge difference between success and significance. Success is defined as “the attainment of popularity or profit”. Significance is defined as “the meaning of what is found in words or events”.

I don’t believe there is anything wrong with wanting to be successful! We should all work hard to attain to be our best self. But I have found the problem with seeking success is that it can be isolating and self focused.

What I have set out with life_love_and_lavender_blog is significance. I want people to be inspired by what inspires me. I want people to look at my page and think of positive things. I want people to read my blog and relate to what I am learning and are about to maybe learn a little bit of what I am I learning.

On social media I do try to create some traction not for success but for a bigger influence of significance. There is so much negativity in the world (especially on Instagram) that I seek to build a community. A wise friend of mine @shylebrandi always says it is more important to find quality people to communicate with then going for the largest number of followers.

I try to keep the people I follow with under 500. I do this so it can be an interactive community. I want to be able to scroll through my whole news feed and like, comment, and encourage people! I don’t want to be a “ghost” follower! Also most of the people I follow are bloggers with smaller accounts. Some of the best accounts and connections I’ve made have been with smaller accounted, people who I don’t know but love and cherish.

I don’t really get offended when people stop following me because it is simply they were not feeling the community I’m building (or because I post too many pictures of my dog)… But ultimately if someone doesn’t want to support you let it go!

This is my way that I do social media. I do it so I can be loving, positive, and supportive. There is no wrong way to do social media (as long as you stick within Instagrams guidelines). I just encourage everyone to strive to be a and significant and positive force to make Instagram the happy place it should be!

Now that I have shared my mission statement with you, I challenged you as a mom, employee, wife, employer and general human being, make it a goal to live a significant life that impacts those around you!
